"Grandpa, where do the animals go in the winter?" It was a question Herb knew he could count on hearing every January. It seemed every winter at least one grandchild would wonder what the animals did during the cold days and freezing nights. He loved the questions and took it as an opportunity to teach the children about life.
They were always amazed when they realized they did not see the deer, squirrels, birds and other animals they were accustomed to seeing every other season. Where could they possibly be? Do they leave? Are they frozen and wait to be thawed in spring? All were valid questions asked by curious young minds.
Herb would always explain that some animals, like bears, hibernate or are less active in the winter. Still others are there, you just don't see them as much. The explanations were always better when he could take the kids on a winter walk to point out how much life was still there - if you looked.
Recently after the grandchildren's visit, Herb thought about another type of season, the seasons of life. Herb has left gifts in his will to several of his favorite charities and non-profit organizations. Like the bear in the winter his gifts are in place and ready to come to life in the right season.
Like Herb, you might want to consider the benefits of creating a gift in your will; and then let it sleep for a while. Like the coming spring you can know your efforts will bloom when the time is right. Click on the links in this website or contact us and we can help you move forward with your plans.
